"This is an important day in the history of fuel cell vehicle technology and a monumental step closer to the day when fuel cell cars will be part of the mainstream. How to Maneuver the Auto Insurance Coverage Claims Process

http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/auto-news-blogs/~3/351870042/how-to-maneuver-the-auto-insurance-coverage-claims-process If you find that you have an auto insurance claim, the first thing you must do is contact the company that provides your insurance. You must immediately contact your insurance carrier if you are involved in an accident or if there is any damage to your vehicle or property. You should call the police in most cases, when there is criminal activity and damage or a moving violation. The insurance will be taken care of in such a way so that all involved in the scenario will be cared for. Regardless of whether the police are called, you'll need to get the other driver's contact and insurance information in order to make a claim on either your own insurance or that of the other driver. Next, you should contact your auto insurance company and contract to proceed.A claim is any event or cost that could be covered by your insurance. You will use your insurance company to pay for any damages to you, your car, or to any other property damaged by your vehicle. This is what's known as starting the claims process. Once the insurance company does their investigation, if needed, they will issue you a check or have you bring your vehicle in for repair. This will allow you to get your vehicle fixed or to pay off the other individual that may have been hurt by your mistake. For most insurance companies, the process is very simple to do.It is important, though, that when anything happens to you or to another driver that you never admit that you were guilty of it. Claim that you don't know what happened; the insurance companies can figure it out from there. If you state that you were at fault, it may cause your claim to be denied and you'll have to pay the full amount of vehicle damage to your car.Ian Wright wants everyone to be able to get the vehicle coverage that they need. Did you buy a health policy separate from your auto insurance? If you answered yes to this question, you will have better chances to get low cost auto insurance. By having a separate health insurance, you may be able to save some money on your auto insurance by reducing your liability coverage to the minimum required by the state's law. GMAC announces $716 million lost in auto leases

http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/auto-news-blogs/~3/351918276/gmac-announces-716-million-lost-in-auto-leases GMAC announces $716 million lost in auto leases GMAC on Thursday announced its second-quarter financial results, revealing a $717 million loss in the second quarter for its automotive financing business. The vast majority — about $716 million — of the losses came as a direct result of the lower-than-expected values of vehicles leased in North America. Overall, the big financing company posted a $2.48 billion total loss in 2008’s second quarter. In contrast, GMAC put up a $293 million profit in the second quarter of 2007, according to an Automotive News report. The company said the falling residual values of leased SUVs “more than offset” any profits from its steady business outside of North America. Of the $30 billion in leases as of June 30, a full 80 percent, or more than $24 billion, was split up evenly between cars and SUVs, while pickup truck leases made up $6 billion. GMAC says it only recovered nearly 75 percent of expected returns on off-lease SUVs, or 85 percent of the expected value of all its vehicles. The actual losses are higher, as General Motors, which owns 49 percent of GMAC, is obligated under contract to pay for a part of GMAC’s lease losses, which will hurt the struggling automaker further. GM is due to release its second quarter financials on Friday. “We intend to support GM within the realm of our liquidity capacity,” said Rob Hull, GMAC’s Chief Financial Officer. Earlier , GMAC announced it would scale back leases in the U.S. and stop offering incentives in Canada. GMAC also lost $1.86 billion net as a result of a poor residential mortgage business.

Group Car Insurance Benefits

http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/auto-news-blogs/~3/351946848/group-car-insurance-benefits Participating in group auto insurance has many benefits and one that is most important. Often, you will find the best deal on auto insurance is to buy a group insurance policy. If you're part of a group based in the same place, like a household or a business office, you can qualify for drastic auto insurance discounts. It can cover several individuals and several autos too. There are additional benefits as well, so individuals seeking this type of auto insurance would be well advised to consider it carefully. Many insurance agencies offer special discounts, called a multi-car discount, to individuals who drive different cars and who have the same address. It is somewhat similar to buying in bulk. You get a lower costing car insurance policy because you are buying more of them. This is a good way for a family to keep their rates low.Group insurance can help in the same way in business situations. If individuals apply for and purchase insurance from one provider, the company is able to lower the individual rates since it is selling a number of policies at once. However, it's important to note, that one person with a bad accident, multiple traffic violations, or requiring auto repairs, may very well increase the rates of everyone under the same policy or plan. You should always consider any possible solutions and make sure coverage is available to you when purchasing any type of coverage, including group insurance. People are usually pleasantly surprised by the affordable solutions they can find just by browsing around and comparing rates to find the best one. One very affordable choice that you may want to consider is a group automobile insurance policy.Ian Wright wants everyone to be able to get the car coverage that they need. Dublin Car Hire Insurance - What Are My Options?

- posted: 01.08.08
http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/auto-news-blogs/~3/351946846/dublin-car-hire-insurance-what-are-my-options Do I need rental car insurance? Probably this is the most important question when you want to book your rental car in Dublin. It always depends on how much risk you want to take. It is your choice. Do you want to save money or do you want peace of mind?Let's see what are your car hire insurance options in Dublin, in Ireland.Option 1: Drive the rental car with your basic CDW insurance You can pick up the rental car at Dublin Airport or other locations in Dublin and drive away with basic CDW insurance, car rental quotes usually include CDW. It is also known as loss damage waiver (LDW), this is not technically an insurance product, but instead shifts liability for collision damage from the person renting the car to the car rental company. If the vehicle is damaged, you will be covered for the cost of repairing the rental car. You will, however, have to pay an excess charge towards the cost of repair. For example, let's say you want to hire a car at Dublin Airport in Ireland. Depends on the size of the rental car the liability (excess) would be €800-2000 in Ireland.Advantages: you can save money by not buying additional insurance.Disadvantages: in the event of accident you could pay up to €2000 toward the repair costs.Option 2: Buy additional insurance at the car rental desk Car hire users can buy additional insurance at the car rental desk which is €10-€20/day in Dublin. There are two different products which are offered by rental companies. The first is "Damage excess reduction": it reduces your car hire excess to €100-€195. The second one is the "Complete cover package" which reduces the car rental excess to 0.Advantages: if anything happens with your rental car, your liability shifts to the rental company and you deal with them directly in case of an accident.Disadvantages: the additional insurance can cost you more than the original rental price and sometimes it doesn't cover the damage of the rental car's glass and tires.Option 3: Purchase car hire excess insurance online You can also purchase car hire excess insurance online from €5.39/day. Customers, who rent cars more often, have the possibility to buy annual excess policy for only €66.15/year.There are many online insurance companies on the market whose core business is the provision of car rental excess insurance. It covers you not only for the total amount of excess for which you are liable if the rental car is damaged or stolen, but also for damage to the roof and undercarriage of the car, windows and tires. The policy can be used with all car rental companies. It covers both the policy holder and all additional drivers, offers full protection against the excess charges and the start date can be selected up to six months in advance.Advantages: it offers you convenience, peace of mind and significant savings when you rent a car in Dublin.Disadvantages: In case of an accident you deal with a third party. The car rental company will charge your credit card by the amount of excess which will be paid back by the online insurance company. It takes time. Option 4: Credit card rental car insurance coverage Certain credit cards may cover car loss and damage in Dublin, in Ireland and others may not. You always have to confirm with your credit card company before picking up your rental car at Dublin Airport or in Dublin City Center. It is also advisable to confirm it for security when you arrive to collect your rental car.Advantages: you don't have to purchase additional rental car insurance because your credit card covers you.Disadvantages: it may not cover every damage.Consider these options when you rent a car in Dublin, at Dublin Airport or anywhere in Ireland. It can save you time and headache, so you can enjoy your Irish driving holiday to the full.ReservaCar Dublin Airport is specialist for car rental at Dublin Airport, in Dublin and worldwide. ReservaCar Dublin Airport is dedicated to comprehensive online car hire service at Dublin Airport. From Dublin Airport car rentals to holiday car rentals in Florida, ReservaCar Dublin Airport have got it covered.

GM ready for small engines — but are consumers?

http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/auto-news-blogs/~3/351919136/gm-ready-for-small-engines-but-are-consumers GM ready for small engines — but are consumers? General Motors is ready and able to start putting small-displacement engines into large cars, but the auto giant fears few American consumers are prepared for such a shift. In a segment dominated by prestige and performance, would a four-cylinder Cadillac CTS succeed? Not yet, GM contends. In Europe, it’s not unusual to see a luxury sedan with a relatively small motor, but in America a powerful V6 is the bare minimum, and a hefty V8 is preferred. It remains to be seen whether luxury customers care enough about fuel economy to warrant adding additional engine options, GM powertrain boss Thomas G. Stephens said earlier this week, according to Edmunds. Using the example of a Cadillac CTS with an inline-four, Stephens said flatly, “We’re ready … we could do it today.” So far, however, customers haven’t shown much interest. Nonetheless, if demand increases, “we’ll do it,” Stephens stated. With the launch of the redesigned CTS sedan, GM decided to make a V6 the primary engine choice, rather than a V8. On the other hand, the new CTS-V gained a whopping 150 horsepower over its predecessor. With so many conflicting trends, it’s no surprise automakers are unsure what to do — many consumers are undoubtedly torn, too.
